Beginner’s Guide to Planes in the Game

If you’re new to the game, there’s one thing you need to know right away:

Planes are everything.
No planes = no profit.

With over 400 planes available, picking the right one can feel overwhelming. This guide will walk you through the basics in a simple way.

 Choosing the Right Plane

Top Tip: Sell Your First Plane

This will give you additional funds to buy older planes to start out the game with multiple routes. After that you can slowly upgrade your fleet to be more fuel efficient.

Here are key things to look at when buying or operating a plane:

 PAX (Passenger Seats)

Passenger configuration is super important - it affects how much money you can make.

So, when choosing how to set up your cabin, remember:

 Cargo

Cargo can be very profitable, but it works a bit differently than passenger seats.

Cargo demand is linked to passenger demand:

So, the more popular your passenger route is, the more cargo you can potentially move.

 Fuel Efficiency

Fuel use is measured in lbs/km

(e.g., if a plane uses 20 lbs/km on a 5,000 km route → 20 × 5,000 = 100,000 lbs of fuel)
If fuel costs $600 per 1,000 lbs → 100,000 lbs = $60,000

So choosing fuel-efficient planes can save you a ton over time.

 CO2 Emissions

Emissions are calculated per passenger or per 1,000 lbs of cargo.

Rough formula for passengers:
 Emission rate × (Y pax + 2×J pax + 3×F pax) × route distance

For cargo:
 Emission rate × (cargo / 1000) × route distance

There’s a random factor in the exact calculation, but this gives you a rough idea.

💡 Example:
If a plane emits 0.2 kg/pax/km, and you have 300 passengers on a 5,000 km route:
0.2 × 300 × 5,000 = 300,000 quota
At $130 per quota, it costs you $39,000

Beginner’s Guide to Planes & Routes in the Game

So, you’ve got the basics of choosing planes down. Now let’s talk about routesmaintenancemarketing, and more. These are just as important when it comes to growing your airline and making consistent profit.

Routes: Match Them to Your Schedule

Not all routes are created equal and your real-life schedule plays a part here.

💡 Tip: Plan your flights around when you’re available to re-depart them. Planes that don’t fly = zero earnings.

Demand: Know How Much You Can Carry

Every route has a maximum number of passengers per day (called demand), and you share it with other players.

Example:
A route might have 1,000 Y-Class300 J-Class, and 150 F-Class daily demand.
If your plane has 250 Y-Class seats, you’ll use up the entire Y-demand in just 4 flights.

To avoid this:

 Stopovers: Useful, but Use Wisely

Stopovers help increase your plane’s range, but they come with trade-offs.

 Maintenance: Keep Your Planes Healthy

Every plane needs regular care. There are two types of maintenance to understand:

 A-Check

 Wear & Tear

💡 Tip: Do your A-checks regularly, and you’ll avoid bigger issues.

Marketing: Why Are My Planes Half Empty?

If your planes aren’t filling up, it's probably because of your reputation.

What Should You Buy?

Once You Get Bigger Planes (like the MC-21):

💡 Tip: Always re-buy campaigns when they expire — reputation doesn’t stay up forever.

 TL;DR

Here’s your quick checklist for success:

✅ Pick planes that fit your routes and flying schedule
✅ Balance passenger types to avoid draining demand
✅ Use stopovers only when necessary
✅ Stay on top of maintenance (especially A-checks)
✅ Boost your reputation with marketing campaigns

Once you get the hang of this, the profits will start to roll in and your airline will grow faster than ever.
